Reporting to: Laboratory Technologist
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a Copper Mining Company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North-Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for qualified individuals to be considered for the position of LPDC Health Intern.
Role Summary
You will be working under the Supervision of Laboratory Technologist. Under the guidance and Supervision of Laboratory Technologist you will be responsible for;
- Conducting pathological laboratory procedures as required by clinic staff
- Conduct occupational health clinics, specimen collection, operation maintenance of various laboratory equipment.
- Participation in External Quality Assessment Programs and involvement Internal Quality Control.
- Maintaining laboratory supplies and commodities
- Participate in work place safety incident and accident management
- Ensures proper completion of reports and other documentation.
- Preparation of laboratory reagents
- Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Ensure prudent and cost-effective use of resources
- General routine laboratory practice in Parasitology, hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology and blood transfusion science
Experience & Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Laboratory Technologist at least at Diploma Level
- Possession of Biomedical Science Laboratory skills
- Good computer skills
