Madison Health & Risk Management Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill in the position of System Administrator to be based in Lusaka

Job Purpose
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, operations and security of enterprise administrative and academic information systems, including file servers, networked data storage, application software, data communication devices and disaster recovery utilities.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Install, configure and maintain servers, server operating systems, networked data storage, network application software and data communications devices
  • Implement, maintain, and update security measures to ensure the integrity of institutional data resources and prevent unauthorized access to network systems
  • Implement disaster recovery systems and develop procedures to ensure reliability of institutional data resources and recovery in the event of a catastrophic event
  • Diagnose and resolve problems and concerns associated with implemented information systems, network software applications and peripheral devices reported by academic and administrative users
  • Coordinate with company users to evaluate information system requirements and develop hardware/software solutions to provide required services
  • Collaborate with the department staff to analyse, design, research equipment options and develop technical specifications for network topologies and configurations
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of information system servers, data storage devices, and installed software; ensure that software license agreements are current and accurate in accordance with company policy
  • Advise the Management of technical issues and consult with vendor support agencies to resolve problems and determine equipment requirements
  • Acquire and maintain the requisite technical skills to perform systems management and network operations activities in support of institutional data processing and network communications
  • Develop and maintain operational, procedural and informational documentation for enterprise information systems, implemented security measures and disaster recovery procedures
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision
  • Develop instructional materials and provide training for installed hardware and software
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the organization

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IT Systems policies, procedures and practices with the ability to answer work related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations
  • Knowledge of current systems and network technologies and standards and their practical application in the enterprise environment
  • Proficiency with enterprise information systems, file servers, networked data storage, application software, scripting and programming languages, data communication devices and disaster recovery utilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical configuration specifications for servers, server operating systems, networked data storage, network application software, data communications devices and disaster recovery systems

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Microsoft Certifications as added advantage
  • Must have a minimum of 2- 4 years proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Proven hands on experience with databases, networks, routing, Firewalls
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Must be resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
