Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus Honours in geology, mining geology or a closely related field
  • Clean valid driver’s license (essential)

Core Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ore delineation and control – including efforts to minimize dilution, ore loss, misclassification
  • All RC grade control planning, execution, supervision, and sampling
  • In-pit mapping and 3D interpretation
  • Integration and interpretation of all geological and sampling datasets to create 3D geological, structural, geochemical, and geo-metallurgical models
  • Best practice material reconciliation and tracking
  • Continuous liaison with key stakeholders, including mining operations, process, geotechnical and hydro-geological teams
  • To effectively supervise other sampling and geological staff and ensure that they perform their duties safely and according to high standards
  • Perform other project work and any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Knowledge and Experience required to perform in this job:

The Mine Geologist will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in production geology (preferably in an open pit mine)
  • Strong IT skills; familiarity with Datamine highly advantageous. Familiarity with other 3D modelling software and/or CAE OreController advantageous.
  • Demonstrable strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Understanding of good Health and Safety practices
