INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Job Purpose

The ICT Officer is responsible for the maintenance of ICT Hardware, Software and Networks to ensure acceptable working conditions of systems at all times. Will assist the Head – ICT in the implementation of the ICT policies and strategies, supports business continuity and disaster recovery plan activities, Administers systems security procedures, patch management and provides day to day user support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop user friendly Web and Mobile applications.
  • Provide first line troubleshooting of computers and networked systems.
  • Prepare ad hoc networks as requested by superiors.
  • Carry out periodic preventive maintenance of all ICT equipment.
  • Carry out wireless and wired network (LAN) installations and maintenance.
  • Install, configure and support software and hardware equipment.
  • Carry out daily, weekly and monthly system backups.
  • Investigate system faults and recommend/implement remedy.

Experience

The ideal candidate MUST possess;

  • Practical knowledge of Local Area Networks, Virtual Private Networks and Wide Area Networks
  • In-depth understanding and operational knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Operating Systems
  • A thorough knowledge of structured cabling and civil works in line with prevailing safety standards
  • Practical knowledge of Disaster Recovery and data backup operations
  • Practical knowledge of CCTV Networks
  • Practical object oriented programming skills
  • Strong and practical Web and Mobile Applications development skills
  • Practical knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) or Oracle Database Systems
  • Working knowledge of Computer Hardware and Software
  • Knowledge of Sage Evolution Pastel Accounting System
  • Knowledge of Pension Systems will be an added advantage

Qualifications

  • Full Grade Twelve Certificate
  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or any related degree with at least 3 years of practical experience in both software development and systems support
  • Diploma holders in a Computer discipline with at least 5 years extensive software development and system support experience may be considered
  • Professional Certification i.e CISCO, Microsoft are added advantages
  • Valid Engineering Institution of Zambia or ICT Association of Zambia
  • Membership is a MUST.
