The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is a body corporate established under the repealed Securities Act, Cap. 354 of the Laws of Zambia and whose existence is continued under the new Securities Act, No. 41 of 2016. SEC has the objective of inter alia regulating and developing the Zambian Capital Markets and is responsible for the supervision and development of the Capital Markets in Zambia as well as the licensing of financial intermediaries, collective investment schemes and securities exchanges, the registration of securities to be issued such as debt and equity instruments, and the authorization of transactions in entities registered with SEC.

SEC now seeks to recruit a qualified Zambian to fill the following position:

1.0 Procurement Intern (x 1)

As a Procurement Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the field of procurement and supply chain management. You will assist the procurement unit in various tasks aimed at acquiring goods and services necessary for the commission’s operations. This internship offers an opportunity to learn about sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, negotiation techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Sourcing: Help identify potential suppliers through market research and analysis. Assist in obtaining quotes and proposals from vendors and uploading tenders through the e-GP platform.
  • Supplier Communication: Liaise with suppliers regarding product inquiries, pricing, availability, and delivery schedules. Maintain positive relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
  • Purchase Order Processing: Assist in the creation, processing, and tracking of purchase orders. Ensure accuracy and completeness of order information.
  • Inventory Management: Support inventory control efforts by monitoring stock levels, tracking deliveries, and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Contract Management: Assist in reviewing and managing contracts with suppliers. Ensure compliance with terms and conditions, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the procurement unit, including filing, organizing documents, and maintaining procurement records.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a Grade 12 School Certificate, five O levels at university entry level.
  • Must have a Degree in Purchasing and Supply or Equivalent
  • Applicants should have graduated not more than three (3) years ago.
  • Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Purchase and Supply

Required skills and attributes:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong Knowledge of the procurement Act and circulars
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
