National Science and Technology Council

The National Science and Technology Council is a Statutory Body established by an Act of Parliament. under the Science and Technology Act No. 26 of 1997. Its mandate is to promote science and technology in order to create wealth and improve the quality of life in Zambia. Vacancy has arisen in the Council. The Council therefore, is inviting suitably qualified Zambian nationals to apply for the job of:

Programme Assistant: Documentation and Information Technoloy (DIT) in its establishment.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To undertake a programme for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and management of documents and publications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)

Information Management

  • Undertake the creation and maintenance of an Electronic and Physical
  • Library in order to provide infornztion to the Sector in the country.

Databse Management

  • Undertake effectively the creation and rnaintenance of an updated database of all activities undertaken by the Prograrnme
  • Development and Department of Council.

Publications

  • Undertake timely publication of Brochures. Newsletter, Flyer, Reports (Workshop Proceedings, Special Studies) and docurnentaries.
  • Undertake tirnelv collection and collationof Annual Reports, Journals, Sectoral Policies and handling,
  • Undertake timely subscription to national and International science a technology journals.
  • Undertake effectively the installation of software on computers and sewers.

Computer Support Services

  • Undertake timely provision in resolving problerns with regard to hardware and software.
  • Undertake timely Preventive maintenance on computers

Network Support Services

  • Undertake timely provision of technical assistance in LAN and WAN
  • Undertake tirnely preventive to LAN and WAN

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Higher Diploma io Computer Science, or preferably Degree in Information Management Systems. Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology Computer Mathematics or Physics).
  • 2 years’ experience in Information Management or related field Computer: Database management
  • Written and Oral communication
  • Survey methodologies
  • A high level of integrity
  • Initiative and confidence,
  • Good public relations
