Transport, Real Estates and Agro-Business

A family business that is establishing operations in the Transport, Real Estates and Agro Business sectors seeks the services of a competent, versatile, dynamic, self-motivated, highly credible and suitably qualified Organizational Leader to fill the position of Business Development and Operations Officer.

The shareholders plan to embark on the growth of this infant business into a multi-million business venture in the next five years.

JOB PURPOSE

The job holder shall provide leadership in strategic, operational, financial and supply chain management by identifying new business opportunities, enhancing existing ones, marketing and branding of company products and services in order to create value and wealth for shareholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER

The roles and responsibilities /accountabilities of the Business Development and Operations Officer shall include but not limited to:

1. Direct the development and implementation of effective strategic plans, polices and operating guidelines for all Business Divisions.

2. Ensure that thorough market research and feasibility studies are conducted in respect to new and existing business opportunities/new investments

3. Provide strategic advice to the Executive Chairperson and Management so that they can have accurate view of the prevailing business environment and the Company’s future.

4. Develop strategic relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, vendors and consultants.

5. Ensure timely preparation and submission of consolidated monthly, quarterly and yearly management reports on the performance of each business division.

6. Develops and manages short, medium and long term business growth strategies within the company.

7. Review from time to time the company’s performance against set targets/objectives and advises the Executive Chairperson of any performance drifts and remedial measures.

8. Consolidates corporate plans and ensures timely preparation and submission of budgets to the Executive Chairperson for approval

9. Undertakes marketing, sales and branding of Company products and services.

10. Ensure that a cohesive and Competent Team exists in the Company, who are adequately trained to execute duties by applying sound management practices.

11. Evaluate employee performance and providing appropriate feedback to employees and Management for decision making purposes.

12. Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations and safety regulations.

13. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Executive Chairperson.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its Equivalent
  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship Management or other relevant field
  • Knowledge in Finance and Accounting, will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms
  • At least five (5) years relevant practical experience in strategic business development, sales or marketing in a reputable organization
  • Membership of any relevant professional association is an added advantage
  • Preferred candidate must be aged between 30 to 40 years old.

REMUNERATION

Salary and employment conditions are based on meeting set performances targets in revenue, expenditure, profitability and business growth

WORKING HOURS

a. You shall work from 8:AM – 5:PM, Monday to Saturday though you may occasionally have to work longer hours to meet project deadlines and other Company assignments

b. The job entails frequent travels both in sociable and unsociable hours to field operational areas

c. Applicant must have a clean valid driving license with at least five years driving experience

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

a. The job holder reports to the Executive Chairperson of the Company

b. The successful job holder will provide supervisory and managerial leadership to a diversified staff and project teams across the  business divisions
