Zambian Youth Platform

The Zambian Youth Platform (ZYP) whose vision seeks to see a “Zambia where young people are empowered and fully participate in social, economic and political development” was established in the year 2015 as a nonpartisan platform for youth leaders, youths and youth workers. It is a mechanism for mobilization of youths, youth leaders and youth workers and their organizations to:

  • Take action on critical issues affecting the youth through coordinated youth voices
  • Holding government and its key partners to accountable on youth priority and commitments.
  • Protect the interest of youths in all aspects through effective and coordinated representation.
  • Promote and support youth participation in decision making.

The suitable candidate shall fulfill the following job roles:

  • Support ZYP staff and partners to set up and maintain appropriate and robust M&E systems for all programme activities,
  • Support monitoring and evaluation processes using ZYP developed tools and provide guidance to staff and partners in their use,
  • Routinely perform quality control checks of monitoring and evaluation work, overseeing that planned monitoring and evaluation activities are
    taking place,
  • Design, carry out and/or supervise consultants conducting evaluations across all programme areas,
  • Track planned evaluations and ensure that evaluation reports are obtained and shared to facilitate learning,
  • Help promote sharing of lessons learned from programme monitoring and evaluation to improve future programme selection, design and implementation,
  • Take part in monitoring and evaluation networks with other NGOs, GIZ, UN and other external partners, as well as with international M&E focal points, partners and beneficiaries to coordinate field monitoring and evaluation activities, stay current on best monitoring and evaluation practice and to
    support quality programming and accountability standards

Job requirements/qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate,
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Social Sciences, M&E; International development or related disciplines,
  • Experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation activities for fast-moving programs in complex environments, experience working in ‘emergency/hardship areas’ is an asset,
  • Good knowledge and understanding of key aspects of development work
  • Experience in programme reporting
  • Practical experience with databases and statistics
  • At least two years relevant and progressive professional experience in M&E.
  • Not below the age of 25 years

Knowledge/Skills

  • Very good knowledge of ICT (MS Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Internet)
  • Strong planning and analytical skills
  •  Report-writing skills
  • Data-analysis skills
  • Very good oral/written English skills
  • Very good communication skills
