African Parks (AP) is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. AP manages 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Job Overview
To provide support to the Workshop Manager in ensuring Liuwa Plain National Park applies the highest standards in Transportation services in order to facilitate the implementation of the Conservation Strategy.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Carry out the necessary routine interventions and checks on the vehicle
- Ensure good condition of the vehicle and its cleanliness
- Study the most suitable route
- Be available and very discreet on the movements of the rector
- Driving under the specified speed limit .
- Regular vehicle checks (oil, fluid, cooling, brake fluid, battery levels, etc.)
- Ensure and keep the head of service main user of the vehicle informed about the needs of regular maintenance (oil change, used parts)
- Mention mileage for major trips, refueling, and major maintenance and repairs performed on the vehicle
- Ensure regular monitoring of the parked vehicle, especially outside the station area and during maintenance and repair operations
- Ensure the safety of the vehicle and passengers during travel, with information to the head of mission on the dangers in case of dangerous situation (fatigue, night traffic, very bad weather conditions)
- Produce regular report on the state of the vehicle
Required Skills and Competencies
- Ability to safely operate and control the vehicle under various conditions.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong time-management skills to ensure timely deliveries, pickups, and adherence to schedules.
- Effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and management.
- Ability to plan and adjust travel routes as needed to optimize time and fuel efficiency.

Role requirements
- High School Certificate
- Valid Driver's License (Class C1).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving trucks or other commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of road safety and traffic laws.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to lift or carry heavy items when needed.
- Must be physically fit and able to work long hours, especially on long trips.
- Written and spoken English
- Experience working or living in remote areas
