The incumbent will be responsible for supervising a vehicle maintenance workshop to ensure that the company’s vehicles are effectively maintained and serviced.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supervise staff in the workshop to ensure that they are appropriately trained and motivated to carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
· Oversee all vehicle maintenance operations to ensure that company vehicles are effectively maintained and serviced.
· Develop and implement maintenance service schedules to ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out efficiently and at the appropriate times to minimize vehicle downtime.
· Monitor vehicle performance post- service or repairs.
· Negotiate contracts for vehicle maintenance as required and ensure that all contractual obligations are met to the required standards.
· Account for tools and equipment in his/her care.
· Adhere to procedures for spare parts ordering systems.
· Provide technical advice on vehicles and trailers to managers and staff to ensure that specifications are met, and the company complies with legal requirements.
· Develop and monitor the operation of all necessary systems and procedures to ensure that vehicle and workshop safety standards are adhered to.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 certificate
- Diploma in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a busy workshop
- Excellent planning skills
- Ability to work under pressure and for extended hours
