To represent clients in civil and criminal litigation, provide sound legal advice, prepare legal documents, and ensure effective case management in line with the firm’s standards and professional ethics. The Litigation Advocate will play a key role in advancing the firm’s objectives by delivering high-quality legal representation and contributing to the growth of the litigation department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients before courts, tribunals, and other adjudicative bodies.
- Draft, review, and file pleadings, affidavits, motions, and other court documents.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare case opinions and briefs.
- Attend to client consultations and provide legal guidance and strategy.
- Liaise with court officials, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties in case management.
- Manage multiple cases efficiently to ensure timely resolution and compliance with deadlines.
- Assist in mentoring junior advocates, legal interns, and clerks where necessary.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism.
- Contribute to the firm’s development initiatives and client service excellence.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a reputable university.
- Advocate of the High Court for Zambia with at least 2 years at the Bar.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-admission experience in a reputable litigation law firm.
