About the HOPE2 project and this position:
The Project for Promoting Inclusive Development in Meheba and Mayukwayukwa (Project title is “HOPE2”) is a three-year project, implemented by the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and the Office of the Vice President, Department of Resettlement (OVP-DOR), in cooperation with local authorities, relevant ministries, and communities in Meheba and Mayukwayukwa.
HOPE2 aims to promote inclusive and sustainable development by facilitating the social and economic integration of former refugees, refugees, settlers, and host communities. HOPE2 covers both Meheba and Mayukwayukwa, particular focus is placed on creating productive, integrated, and inclusive communities that embody local development and co-existence.
One of HOPE2’s components is livelihood improvement, with agriculture at its core. The Project Staff (Agriculture) will work closely with JICA Experts, the District Agricultural Department, and other relevant stakeholders. While agriculture will make up the majority of the work, the Project Staff will also be expected to support different activities necessary for overall project implementation.

These are the MUST-HAVE requirements.
1. Solid technical background in crop production, supported by a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture.
2. Valid motorcycle riding licence (Class A) and willingness to travel extensively to ensure smooth implementation in remote field locations.
o Please clearly indicate your licence status in your CV. If you are currently in the process of obtaining the licence, please specify this as well.
3. Proficiency in relevant local languages.
o Please specify in your CV which languages you speak and indicate proficiency level (basic, conversational, fluent).
4. Clear and proven 3+ years of experience working with NGOs, government or UN organisations, including direct implementation of farmer trainings within such programmes.
5. Willingness to reside in Mayukwayukwa for the duration of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desirable)
- Experience working in Meheba, Mayukwayukwa or refugee-related contexts.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills at the community level.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Duration of Contract:
Hired between December 2025 and January 2026, with the contract expected to run throughout the project period (approximately 30 months).
The first three months constitute a probationary period, during which continued employment will depend on satisfactory performance and suitability for the role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Under the supervision and guidance of the JICA Expert Team, the Project Staff will carry out the following tasks:
- Plan, prepare, organise, implement, and report on administrative and technical meetings, workshops, seminars, and training sessions as assigned by the JICA Expert Team;
- Collect necessary information for the Project as assigned by the JICA Expert Team;
- Assist in the establishment of communication modalities set among the concerned parties of the HOPE2 project and the JICA Expert Team, designed to achieve smooth operation of the project activities;
- Facilitate the preparation of agendas of meetings related to the Project and draft minutes of these meetings;
- Support project counterparts to organise and conduct training as well as instruct participants in the training;
- Assist the JICA Expert Team to resolve administrative and technical issues that may arise for the operation of the Project;
- Purchase materials and equipment for project implementation and obtain required documents for accounting, as well as administer them according to the instructions of the JICA Expert Team;
- Provide technical inputs to the work duties assigned by the JICA Expert Team for the Project;
- Interviewing and information collection on the ground;
- Writing up reports using Microsoft Word and Excel, and sending by email to the JICA Expert Team, scanning documents, and writing up emails.
- Actively support and perform other tasks as assigned by the JICA Expert Team related to field operations: and
- Work as a translators from local language to English for the JICA Expert Team.
2. Under the supervision of and close communication with the supervisors, the project assistant carries out other necessary tasks following the instructions of the JICA Expert Team.
