About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and professional Chef to join our team at our self-catering Safari Lodge in the heart of Kafue National Park. This role offers the opportunity to guide and support guests in creating their own meals, while ensuring the lodge kitchen facilities, supplies, and culinary standards are maintained to the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain kitchen facilities, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readiness for guest use.
- Provide guidance and assistance to guests in meal preparation when required.
- Curate welcome hampers and recommend local ingredients to enhance the self-catering experience.
- Design optional meal packages or pre-prepared dishes for guests who prefer convenience.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and storage of food supplies efficiently.
- Collaborate with the camp team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Cater to dietary requirements and special requests with creativity and professionalism.
- Host and engage with guests during meal service or cooking demonstrations, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Candidate Profile
This position is ideal for a qualified Chef who is:
- Experienced in hospitality or lodge/camp kitchens.
- Adaptable to a self-catering environment where guest independence is encouraged.
- A strong communicator and natural team player.
- Passionate about culinary excellence and guest satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements
- Recognised culinary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Chef, preferably in a hospitality or lodge setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
