Nava Avocado is developing one of Zambia’s leading commercial avocado projects and is seeking an experienced Packhouse Technician to join our growing operations team.
This role is ideal for a hands-on mechanical and electrical professional experienced in food processing, agro-processing, or FMCG manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and reliability of our fruit grading and packing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair fruit grading, sorting, and packing line equipment
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and drive systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Ensure all machinery meets food safety and hygiene standards
- Minimize downtime during peak harvest operations
- Maintain maintenance records and schedules
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Craft Certificate / Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Or related technical field
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Food processing plants
- Sugar, milling, or agro-processing plants
- FMCG production environments
- Appropriate millwright certification
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
- Working knowledge of electrical control systems
- Experience with automated production or packing lines
- Ability to read technical diagrams and equipment manuals
- Experience in preventive maintenance systems
