A farm development project involving land preparation, irrigation infrastructure, civil works, and associated construction activities requires a competent and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to oversee environmental and occupational safety compliance throughout the construction phase.
POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS Officer will be responsible for monitoring, enforcing, and reporting on environmental, health, and safety performance during construction and farm infrastructure development activities. The role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, ESIA commitments, and project HSE standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor implementation of the Environmental & Social Management Plan (ESMP).
- Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections.
- Monitor noise levels at different intervals.
- Enforce PPE compliance and safe work procedures.
- Perform risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Monitor excavation, work at height, machinery operation, and confined space activities.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports.
- Facilitate safety inductions and toolbox talks.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Maintain HSE documentation and compliance records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
- Diploma in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
- OR
- Bachelor of Science in Wood Science & Technology
- OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering.
