We are looking for a highly experienced and results driven Import & Export assistant to oversee customs clearing, freight forwarding, shipping coordination, and logistics operations. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of Zambian customs procedures, import/export documentation, and cargo management.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all import and export operations from shipment planning to final delivery
• Coordinate customs clearing processes with ZRA, clearing agents, transporters, and clients
• Prepare and verify import/export documentation and customs declarations
• Ensure correct HS code classification and compliance with customs regulations
• Monitor cargo movements, shipping schedules, and warehouse operations
• Handle import VAT deferments, rebates, permits, SADCs/COMESA documentation, and phyto certificates
• Track inbound and outbound shipments and resolve delays efficiently
• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, bonded warehouses, and regulatory authorities
• Prepare daily and monthly logistics and customs clearance reports
• Ensure compliance with all local and international trade regulations
Minimum Requirements
• Diploma or Degree in Clearing & Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, or related field
• Minimum 2 years proven experience in customs clearing, freight forwarding, imports, and exports
• Strong working knowledge of ASYCUDA World
• Experience handling air freight and road freight cargo
• Familiarity with bonded warehousing systems and customs procedures
• Good understanding of import/export permits and customs documentation
• Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• High integrity, reliability, and attention to detail
• Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and logistics systems
