The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the implementing agency of the Federal Republic of Germany for technical and international cooperation. It offers flexible, sustainable and effective solutions in political, economic and social change processes. Most of the work of GIZ is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GIZ also operates on behalf of other German ministries as well as public and private bodies in Germany and abroad. These include the European Commission, the United Nations, the World Bank and governments of other countries.
FANSER+ (Food and Nutrition Security Enhanced Resilience plus) is a bilateral project commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in Zambia. The project is working towards implementing the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) National Nutrition Act 3, 2020 and the BMZ core area strategy "Transformation of agricultural and food systems” in the “Food and Nutrition Security” area of intervention.
In this context, the project is seeking a suitable candidate for the following position:
Junior Advisor (Salary Band 3) – based in Katete
REF: GIZ_ FANSER+ _JA
Main tasks and responsibilities:
The Junior Advisor will work closely with the FANSER+ team in Eastern Province and support selected areas of programme implementation, with a particular focus on technical and administrative support to operations.
Administration
- In liaison with the Project Component Leader and in collaboration with the administration team, ensure efficient office operations at the Katete field office
- Support the tracking and documentation of project assets (e.g. equipment, materials)
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of inventory exercises
- Maintain basic administrative records and support follow-up on action points
- Coordinate with the security personnel and the office orderly to maintain a safe and secure working environment at the office
- Conduct daily checks to ensure adequate availability of office and field consumables, and support logistics arrangements for meetings, field visits, and workshops
- Support administrative processes, e.g., procurement requests and follow-ups
Coordination and event support
- Perform tasks as assigned and/or requested by the line manager or other output technical advisors
- Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as required
- Support logistical preparation and hosting events, meetings and training at the Katete Office and in the target areas
- Shall assist and carry out other program activities and tasks at the request of the line manager
- Support the creation of a database of images/videos of major project activities
Technical activity support to Gender and Socio-economic empowerment Functions
- Support the responsible advisor in implementing project activities that promote Farmer Business School approaches in the target areas
- Support the integration of gender and women’s empowerment initiatives within agricultural and nutrition activities
- Contribute to the documentation of lessons learnt and good practices
Technical activity support to Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Functions
- Support the advisor responsible for nutrition sensitive agriculture in implementing project activities that promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture practices
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Business Management or Nutrition from a recognised and reputable university
- Applicants are expected to have their academic certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)
- Registered with the respective regulatory bodies e.g. Agriculture Institute of Zambia, Health Professional Council of Zambia etc
Professional Experience:
- At least 2 years’ professional experience in the field of administrative support, frontline desk management and rural development support
Other knowledge and additional competences:
- Proven ability to organise and structure information in a clear and systematic way
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams/SharePoint)
- Basic knowledge of office administration and logistics
- Willingness to learn skills as required by the tasks to be performed
The successful candidate will be expected to start employment with GIZ, on a fixed term contract.
