Position Title: Sales Agronomist

1.0 Job Purpose
The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for driving seed sales growth, promoting AMAC Seed Zambia Limited products, and providing technical agronomic support to distributors, agro-dealers, and farmers. The role combines technical agronomy expertise with commercial sales execution to ensure increased market penetration, customer satisfaction, and achievement of business objectives.
The incumbent will play a key role in developing sustainable customer relationships, conducting product demonstrations, supporting demand creation activities, and gathering market intelligence to strengthen the company’s competitive position within the seed industry.
2.0 Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
2.1 Sales Growth and Market Development
- Drive sales and distribution of the company’s seed products within the assigned territory.
- Develop and implement territory sales plans aimed at achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Identify and recruit new agro-dealers, distributors, and strategic business partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers to enhance repeat business and customer retention.
- Monitor product movement and ensure availability of seed products within designated markets.
- Conduct regular market visits to support sales growth initiatives.
2.2 Agronomic and Technical Support
- Provide technical agronomic advice to farmers, distributors, and agro-dealers on crop production and seed performance.
- Conduct field inspections and provide recommendations on planting, crop management, pest control, and harvesting practices.
- Establish and manage demonstration plots to showcase product performance.
- Organize farmer field days, product demonstrations, and agronomy training sessions.
- Handle customer complaints relating to seed performance and provide timely technical resolutions.
2.3 Marketing and Demand Creation
- Support implementation of marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Participate in agricultural shows, exhibitions, field days, and other industry events.
- Conduct product awareness and education campaigns targeting farmers and agro-dealers.
- Provide feedback on competitor activities, customer preferences, pricing trends, and market opportunities.
- Assist in developing localized marketing strategies based on market dynamics.
2.4 Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain professional relationships with farmers, cooperatives, NGOs, agro-dealers, and institutional clients.
- Ensure effective after-sales support and customer follow-up.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate customer databases and sales records.
2.5 Reporting and Administration
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and seasonal activity reports.
- Maintain records of sales activities, demonstrations, field visits, and customer engagements.
- Support stock monitoring and demand forecasting within the assigned territory.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

4.0 Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Crop Science/Agribusiness, Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in seed sales, agronomy, or agricultural input marketing.
- Valid driver’s license with practical driving experience.
Professional Membership
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) and/or relevant agricultural professional body will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of seed systems, crop production, and agronomic practices.
- Knowledge of the Zambian agricultural market and farming systems.
- Experience in sales and territory management.
- Understanding of dealer network management and customer relationship management.
- Ability to conduct farmer trainings and technical presentations.
