Position Summary
Lelesha Lodge is seeking a skilled, creative, and dependable Chef to oversee the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals for lodge guests and staff. The Chef will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, kitchen management, inventory control, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about hospitality, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and present meals in accordance with lodge standards.
- Design and update menus that reflect guest preferences and seasonal availability.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and timely delivery of meals.
- Cater for special dietary requirements and guest requests.
- Maintain attractive food presentation and portion control.
Kitchen Operations
- Supervise daily kitchen operations and workflow.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas.
- Monitor food storage, handling, and stock rotation procedures.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used and maintained properly.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor inventory levels and prepare purchase requests.
- Minimize food wastage and control kitchen costs.
- Receive and inspect food deliveries to ensure quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of stock usage and kitchen supplies.
Teamwork & Guest Experience
- Work closely with lodge staff to ensure excellent guest service.
- Train and support kitchen assistants or junior staff when required.
- Handle guest feedback professionally and make improvements where necessary.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Chef, Cook, or similar role in hospitality or lodge environments.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.
