We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic / Heavy duty Machine Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong technical knowledge of automotive systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicle engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and other components.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.
- Repair or replace defective vehicle parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Test drive vehicles after repairs to verify functionality and ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance work completed, parts used, and labor hours.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Requirements
- Certificate in Mechanics or equivalent qualification.
- Valid Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) Certificate.
- Completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive repair will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience as a Mechanic or Heavy duty Machine Technician.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and suspension.
- Proficiency in the use of diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults effectively.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
