Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position in the Estate Support Services Department to be based at Nakambala:
EXTENSION WORKER x 1 – PERMANENT (RE-ADVERTISED)
The position will be reporting to the Social Welfare Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensure implementation of programs that address Gender Based Violence (GBV) and promote gender equity and social economic activities and empowerment.
· Ensure drains and sewer lines are open and water flowing freely at all times and promptly inform residents about water stoppages.
· Ensure raw and treated water is available and used only for defined domestic chores.
· Engage and work with community leaders and groups supporting specific community settings e.g schools, markets, clubs, churches etc.
· Identify maintenance needs, assess and raise works orders for submission to relevant service section promptly.
· Ensure vacant houses including its surroundings are kept in clean condition and hedge, lawn is maintained to required height and cleanliness.
· Co-ordinate and monitor solid waste service providers in Zonal townships domestic refuse collection collectively for sustenance of the beautiful estate vision.
· Raise funeral requisitions as per work instruction on funeral management.
· Ensure mandatory funeral requisites are supplied promptly upon receipt of requests from either family representative or workplace.
· Interpret the Collective Agreement in the case of unionized employee and Staff Conditions of service to affected family members, if need be, on funeral provisions.
· Write and submit Weekly, Monthly, quarterly and Annual reports and submit information for report writing to supervisors when need arises.
· Participate in community related Internal and external audits.
· Inducting new employees on House Occupancy rules, terms and conditions and raise reminders/eviction notices for timely payment to Landlords on rented houses.
· Ensure Company furniture movements in respect of transit houses are conducted in accordance with Company procedure and accounted for.
· Coordinate Health education campaigns on communicable diseases, mental health therapy, people living with disabilities and sensitize residents on various company policies affecting communities.
· Ensure pets and domesticated birds have restricted movements to owners, yards/fence.
· Carry out counselling sessions to help residents find solutions to their psycho-social and socio-economic difficulties.
· Ensure all residents /tenants abide by Township rules provided in the company housing policy.
· Promote and adhere to ABF’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
· Execute any other duties that as assigned to by the supervisor from time to time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Grade twelve (12) school certificate.
· Diploma in social work, development studies, Project management.
· Preferably 2 years’ experience in Private / Public Sector.
· Interpersonal and communications abilities, Capacity building and motivational and mobilization qualities with good temperaments.
· Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
