This week we feature an inspiring quote from Catholic Friar and preacher, St Francis of Assisi.

"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." Francis of Assisi

About St Francis of Assisi

Born in Europe in the 12th Century, St Francis was born into a life of privilege. However, he gave up his privilege following a strange vision. Instead, St Francis began nursing lepers, joined the poor in begging and started restoring chapels. Following a sermon on Matthew 10:9, St Francis was inspired to devote his life to poverty and started to teach repentance.  St Francis chose not to be ordained a priest and preached to ordinary people gaining many followers. In addition to his preaching, St Francis founded several religious orders and fraternities and is known for the creation of the first Christmas Nativity Scene.
