Duties

The Community Liaison Office (CLO) Administrative Assistant provides support to the Community Liaison Office (CLO) Coordinator and to all USG Agencies at Post, serving as editor of the weekly post newsletter, “The Kachere”; overseeing information and resource management; and planning and implementing events and special projects. The incumbent assists the CLO in developing and maintaining key contacts, and managing information that benefits the morale and welfare of the entire mission. The incumbent supports eight (8) areas of responsibility (Event Planning, Employment, Crisis Management,  Community Liaison, Welcome and Orientation, Guidance and Referral, Information and Resource Management, and Education Liaison).  Position is directly supervised by the Co-CLO Coordinator(s).

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:   Two years experience in public outreach, public relations, administrative management, office management, community affairs, community liaison, or government service is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have in-depth knowledge of the host country and region, including local history, culture, religion, and customs. Must have good overall knowledge of local resources for shopping, travel and leisure activities. Must have good working knowledge of embassy organizational structure and office locations.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary (High) School is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Level (IV) speaking/reading/writing of English is required. (This may be tested). Level (IV) speaking of Nyanja is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.  Must have the ability to use and navigate the internet. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multi-tasks. Strong interpersonal skills in order to deal with a variety of Embassy personnel.  Strong research skills in order to respond to inquiries from the community.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
