Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting interested, qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the positions below.

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT: 1 position tenable in Ndola.

First preference will, therefore, be given to local Ndola residents.

The main purpose of this role is to assist in the preparation of financial data.

Key duties and essential job functions

  • Prepares and posts journals to the general ledger
  • Maintains the general ledger, ensuring all entries are posted to the correct codes
  • Ensures completion of the management accounts in a timely manner, ready for review with the Project Accountant
  • Undertakes variance analysis; current month actuals vs forecast and month on month movements in full year forecast
  • Ensures that all balance sheet balances are fully reconciled and understood
  • Ensures all capital expenditure is capitalised and back-up is provided to Project Accountant
  • Creates cash flow forecast; used for reporting to Management team
  • Generates invoices and weekly statements
  • Maintains Fixed Asset Register
  • Administers and monitors grant related income and expenditure
  • Reconciles inter-project transactions and raises recharges across the organisation in accordance with the organisation’s inter-project policy
  • Processes fixed asset additions and disposals in line with organisation policy
  • Processes depreciation charges and forecasts for budget purposes
  • Reconciles asset/accumulated depreciation accounts
  • Oversees annual physical verification of fixed assets
  • Assists the Project Accountant in completing management/financial reports for the month, quarter and year end accurately and on time
  • Assists in preparing consolidated management information
  • Makes timely responses to auditor queries

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Accountancy
  • Knowledge of the Pastel Accounting, or similar financial accounting package
  • Membership of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA)
