Event Venue Manager Job Description

We are looking for an organized venue manager to handle the operations, marketing, and bookings for our venue. In this role, you will be required to secure bookings, liaise with event planners, décor and catering vendors, and party and/or wedding clients. You will also be required to supervise staff responsible for the maintenance of the venue.

To be a successful venue manager, you should be a self-starter and motivated individual, with excellent problem-solving abilities and strong leadership skills. Ultimately, you should anticipate possible outcomes and requirements for events and show exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills and ensure the venue generates profit for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and supervising maintenance staff of the venue grounds, property, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ensuring that the venue and facilities are clean and organized.
  • Managing all bookings for events and liaising with the clients to determine event requirements and negotiating with clients.
  • Supervising staff including contractor event staff, and maintenance personnel.
  • Conducting financial transactions and preparing event budgets.
  • Liaising with vendors (catering and décor services) and providing oversight of their activities while they are on our premises.
  • Promoting the location and events through a variety of marketing channels such as social media.
  • Supervising the operations of events and tending to any incidents or queries.
  • Managing all administrative tasks such as insurance, booking schedules, police permit and ensuring security regulations and protocols are communicated.

Requirements:

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate or its equivalent.
  • Diploma in Business, events management, hospitality, or similar preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a venue or event manager preferred.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent promotional ability and knowledge of marketing channels and techniques.
  • Great interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and leadership abilities.
  • Willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays.
