Position Title: Operations Manager
Position Type: Fixed Term Contract
Location: Lusaka (Makeni)
Reports to: Managing Director: Zambia

Job Purpose:

The Operations Manager is a full-time position based in the Lusaka (Makeni). He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight for the daily workings of operations, linked to customs clearing, warehousing and freight forwarding. Plans, manages staff to ensure deadlines are met and maintains a high-quality standard of service delivery.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the growth and success of the team;
  • Deliver a superior service the clients
  • Manages activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements;
  • Communicates with all relevant parties effectively to ensure KPI are achieved;
  • Plans, schedules, and reviews workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met on a cost- effective basis;
  • Confirms that health and safety regulation are followed;
  • Development and oversight of staff appraisal and supervision systems and in line with required competences;
  • Management and monitoring of services budgets including analysis, reporting and action on variances;
  • Management of service staff and resources to achieve required service response, quality and cost performance indicators;
  • Produce and presentation of monthly and Quarterly reports and updates to Managing Director to support internal strategic and performance review process and with external development work groups;
  • Implement measure to provide motivation for employees;
  • Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency;
  • Achieving and reviewing budgets and managing cost;
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12;
  • Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Freight Forwarding;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and supervising a team;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and eager to work in a fast-paced multicultural organization;
  • A minimum ten (10) years’ experience in logistics and Freight Forwarding
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing;
  • Experience in negotiating and working with suppliers;
  • Leadership Skills;
  • Experience in strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a stressful and demanding environment
  • Drive to achieve results;
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively;
