Key Responsibilities

The holder of the position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

  • Safe operation of existing mill processes and ensuring good practice is maintained;
  • Active contribution to overall growth of the KMP primary safety, production and cost objectives.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual production targets whilst achieving core KPIs;
  • Ensure smooth operation of the plant and optimum plant availability.
  • Assist Superintendent in preparation of Production plan.
  • Monitor plant performance on daily basis as well as for long term forecast
  • Identification and de-bottlenecking of plant problems to assist operations.
  • Assist the Superintendent in planning & preparation for shutdown jobs.
  • Preparation of Production & Review reports
  • Review and update SOP.
  • Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Management aspects concerning gold operations.
  • Assist Superintendent in Budget preparation.
  • Assist Superintendent in Material procurement planning.
  • Manpower planning & training (both permanent & contract) for the section.
  • Identifying the training needs and co-ordination with Training Department for arrangement of the same.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in metallurgy or relevant discipline or qualification acceptable to become a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia as per Act No.27 of 1992.
  • Post graduate qualification an added advantage.
  • Computer literate with good MS excel, word, and power point skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in base metal concentrator and gold processing.
  • Must have managed, organized or supervised high performance teams
  • A track record of continuous improvement;
  • Must be able to understand in detail the technical complexities of the KMP gold circuit.
