Translators for Bemba, Nyanja, and Tonga.
As a company, Viamo works with NGOs and Government to provide access to information. The Viamo platform supports interactive voice response (IVR), SMS and USSD format.
Our flagship solution is called The 3-2-1 Service (locally known as 667). Any MTN Zambia subscriber can call 667 and listen to a wide range of pre-recorded audio messages on topics like health, nutrition, sexual reproductive health, and many more. The service is available free of charge to MTN subscribers through a strategic partnership between MTN Zambia and Viamo.
With the voice format, we are able to effectively communicate with low-literate audiences and audiences with basic phones (i.e. internet or smart phone are not needed for 667) whilst the information is also made available in Bemba, Nyanja with Chitonga being added currently.
To continue the development of new content for the 667 Service in collaboration with our partners, we are urgently seeking to recruit translators for Bemba, Nyanja, and Tonga. To assess translation skills, a test will be conducted and evaluated as part of the recruitment process.
To excel in this position, you need prior translation experience, ideally with a focus on non-technical content for low-literate audiences. If you have worked in the NGO sector or with NGO clients that is an added advantage.
