JOB OPPORTUNITY: Portfolio Manager
Location: Luanshya, Zambia
About the Role
A resort company is seeking a highly analytical, strategic, and innovative Portfolio Manager to oversee and grow their investment portfolio. This newly established position will play a critical role in evaluating investment performance, identifying growth opportunities, and providing data-driven insights to support Ownership’s strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Performance & Reporting
- Track and assess portfolio performance against benchmarks.
- Identify underperforming assets and recommend corrective action.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
- Maintain dashboards that visualize ROI, trends, and risk exposure.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify financial and operational risks.
- Implement mitigation measures and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor liquidity, exposure, and overall portfolio risk levels.
Investment Strategy & Analysis
- Develop short- and long-term investment strategies.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses.
- Perform macroeconomic, financial, and sectoral research.
Due Diligence & New Investments
- Conduct detailed due diligence on investment prospects.
- Prepare feasibility studies, valuations, and investment proposals.
- Validate business concepts and startup ideas from Ownership.
- Engage external advisors when required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Present market insights and performance reviews to Ownership.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.
Leadership & Department Setup
- Establish Portfolio Management processes and reporting standards.
- Mentor junior staff and build a high-performing analytical team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Investment Management, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
- A Master’s degree or certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CIMA, or FRM are an added advantage.
- 5–7 years of experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, corporate finance, or similar fields.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation expertise.
- Experience with feasibility studies, due diligence, and investment proposals.
- Knowledge of the Zambian economic and regulatory environment.
- Experience in the hospitality or resort sector is an added advantage.
