Avencion is a global technology, business process outsourcing and management consulting firm with offices in Africa and North America. We are seeking dynamic and analytical professionals to join our Business Analyst Program. The program will be based in Lusaka, Copperbelt (Ndola/Kitwe), and North-Western Province (Solwezi). The program will be for a period of 10–24 month and extended based on performance.
Business Analysts Program Summary
The Business Analyst Program will upskills and deploy talented young professionals to conduct enterprise diagnostics, baseline assessments, and develop tailored support plans for small, medium enterprises (SMEs) participating in incubation and acceleration programs. The Business Analysts will collaborate with mentors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality business development services are delivered, emphasizing identifying commercially viable business models, ESG integration, market readiness, and inclusive growth. This position requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving, ability to quickly learn and apply sector knowledge, and a commitment to results-oriented enterprise development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostics and needs assessments for startups and SMEs, evaluating business maturity, growth potential, and alignment with green/circular economy principles through desk reviews, interviews, and baseline data collection.
- Conduct financial and investment readiness assessments.
- Implement idea validation, market research, prototyping, ESG measurement, financial modeling, investment readiness, capacity building (bootcamps, peer-learning, business to business linkages), and progress tracking via key performance indicators.
- Manage SME digital performance records, engage provincial stakeholders, support delivery of business development and financing readiness trainings, and contribute to alumni support and learning documentation.
- Support SMEs in building financial models, budgets, forecasts, and pitch materials.
- Assist companies in compliance, governance documentation, standard operating procedure (SOP) development, and growth planning.
- Prepare due-diligence documents and facilitate investor engagement.
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting of SME progress.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preference for analytic fields such as Business Administration, Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Require candidates to have character, integrity, curiosity, strong work ethics and energy.
- Experience in business analysis, enterprise development, or consulting, preferably in green/circular economy, SME support, or donor-funded projects is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in digital tools (e.g., CRM, M&E dashboards, Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analysis software like Excel or Google Sheets advanced functions is a plus).
- Excellent in communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently and in hybrid teams.
- Commitment to inclusivity, with experience supporting women- and youth-led enterprises.
- Willingness to travel within provinces and to Lusaka as needed
- Fluency in English; proficiency in local languages (e.g., Bemba, Nyanja) is an asset.
