CALL FOR DATA COLLECTORS/ ENUMERATORS (COMMUNITY SURVEY) (X12)
Disability Inclusion and Equality Survey – Zambia
We are recruiting Data Collectors/Enumerators to support a community survey on Disability Inclusion and Equality in selected districts across Zambia. The study has received approval from the relevant Research Ethics Committee, and all data collection will follow ethical standards.
Locations & Language Requirements
Applicants must be based in (or available to work in) the following provinces and be fluent in the local language:
• Copperbelt Province /Ndola district, (Chifubu) – Bemba
• Lusaka Province/Lusaka district - Lusaka (Kanyama compound, Bauleni compound, Twashuka)-Nyanja
• Lusaka Province /Luangwa District (Chitope) – Nyanja
• Lusaka Province/Chilanga (Chilanga)
• Southern Province/ Livingstone (Dambwa Site)– Tonga and/or Lozi
• Southern Province/ Sinazongwe (Maamba and Tekelo) – Tonga
• Southern Province/ Gwembe (Munyumbwe) – Tonga
• Southern Province/Chilundu (Chilundu) – Tonga
Preference will be given to applicants who can speak more than one of the listed languages.

Key Responsibilities
The selected enumerators will be expected to:
• Conduct household/community interviews using a structured questionnaire
• Explain informed consent clearly and ensure ethical data collection
• Collect accurate and complete data in line with study guidelines
• Use digital data collection tools (smartphone/tablet) or paper-based tools where required
• Work respectfully with persons with disabilities and community members
• Submit completed tools and daily field updates to the supervisor/coordinator
• Maintain confidentiality and protect participant information
Required Qualifications & Skills
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
✅ Fluency in the required local language(s) and ability to communicate well in English
✅ Minimum Grade 12 certificate (Additional qualifications are an advantage)
✅ Previous experience in community surveys, data collection, or research work
✅ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
✅ Ability to work respectfully with persons with disabilities
✅ Good understanding of confidentiality and informed consent
✅ Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
✅ Must own or have access to a smartphone (advantage)
✅ Ability to travel within the district/community and work in the field

Desirable Skills (Added Advantage)
• Experience collecting data using tools such as Kobo Toolbox, ODK, Comcare, Google Forms, etc.
• Experience working with disability programmes, OPDs, or community-based inclusive development work
• Basic understanding of safeguarding and “Do No Harm” principles
• Ability to work in a team and handle field challenges professionally
Training
All selected enumerators will undergo a short training and orientation before fieldwork begins.
