Play it Forward Zambia is seeking a motivated Project Officer – Digital Skills to lead the day-to-day delivery of our Digital Skills Project at the Absa Innovation Hub in Livingstone.
The programme equips young people with practical coding, digital and employability skills for employment and entrepreneurship. The role is implementation-focused, responsible for coordinating delivery, engaging stakeholders, and maintaining high-quality training standards under the direction of the Head of Programmes.

Play it Forward Zambia empowers young people to build sustainable futures through education, digital skills, health and sport. We engage over 3,500 young people each year across Livingstone and surrounding communities, providing structured programmes that strengthen confidence, employability and entrepreneurship pathways.
Our Digital Skills Project, delivered in partnership with Absa, is designed to equip youth (particularly girls and young women) with practical, industry-relevant coding and technology skills aligned to Zambia’s growing digital economy. As the programme expands, we are working toward formal accreditation and long-term sustainability.

Contract: Full-Time, 1-Year Fixed Term (extension subject to funding & performance)

Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience coordinating or managing projects, ideally in education, youth development or digital skills
- Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, ICT, Maths or related field
- Practical experience teaching Scratch, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar technologies
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience contributing to donor reporting, proposal development and basic budget management
- Demonstrated ability to integrate gender-responsive approaches and promote girls’ participation
- High level of initiative, ownership and ability to work independently in a structured, fast-paced environment
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Project Management
- Lead day-to-day implementation of the Digital Skills Project.
- Maintain structured planning, timelines and reporting aligned to organisational and partner requirements.
- Support TEVETA accreditation processes and ensure curriculum documentation compliance.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Absa and key stakeholders.
2. Training Delivery
- Deliver high-quality coding and digital skills training in line with the approved curriculum and learning objectives.
- Facilitate blended learning sessions, adapting delivery to support learners at different skill levels.
- Guide students through practical exercises and capstone projects linked to real-world industry challenges.
3. Student Engagement & Monitoring
- Monitor attendance, participation and performance, including accurate collection of sex-disaggregated data.
- Provide structured learner support and mentorship to encourage retention and successful completion.
- Use monitoring data and feedback to inform continuous improvement in training delivery and student outcomes.
4. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance data and programme documentation in line with organisational and partner requirements.
- Provide technical input for donor reports and funding applications, including key progress updates and outcome data.
- Support the development of case studies and impact materials that showcase learner progress and programme results.
5. Partnerships
- Represent the programme professionally in meetings, showcases and stakeholder engagements, clearly communicating progress and impact.
- Support proposal development and sustainability planning by providing technical input and programme insights.
- Promote programme visibility and identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and expand collaboration.
6. Technical & IT Support
- Ensure digital training equipment is functional and maintained.
- Provide basic IT troubleshooting and support for training sessions.
- Liaise with external providers for complex technical issues.
7. Gender, Inclusion & Safeguarding
- Promote gender-responsive programme delivery and actively encourage inclusive participation, particularly for girls and young women.
- Adhere strictly to safeguarding policies and ensure safe, responsible use of digital platforms at all times.
- Maintain high professional standards, positive working relationships and respectful conduct in all interactions.
