Position: Transport & Logistics Officer
We are seeking a highly organized and competent Transport & Logistics Officer to manage and coordinate the company’s transport and logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient fleet utilization, proper logistical planning, and effective supervision of drivers and transport activities.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise daily transport and logistics operations to ensure timely movement of goods, materials, and personnel.
- Plan and schedule vehicle and truck movements to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Calculate and allocate trip allowances, trip bonuses, and fuel requirements for truck drivers based on approved routes and company policies.
- Monitor fuel consumption and maintain accurate fuel records to prevent misuse and ensure accountability.
- Maintain detailed transport records including trip sheets, fuel logs, and vehicle movement registers.
- Ensure all company vehicles are serviced, maintained, and kept in good mechanical condition.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs where necessary.
- Supervise drivers and transport staff to ensure compliance with company policies, road safety regulations, and operational standards.
- Investigate and report accidents, breakdowns, and other transport-related incidents.
- Ensure all vehicles have valid insurance, road tax, fitness certificates, and other statutory documentation.
- Prepare regular transport and logistics reports for management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in transport, fleet management, or logistics operations.
- Experience in fleet management and driver supervision will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of fuel management, vehicle maintenance, and transport planning.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for calculating trip allowances, bonuses, and fuel allocations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple transport activities simultaneously.
- A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
