Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a nationally registered NGO working with development projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia reaching over 1 million people. Key funding partners include the Government of Zambia, national and international development organisations (EU, Global Fund, WFP and more) as well as private sector organisations.
DAPP in Zambia is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to fill 01 x District Coordinator position and 10 x Project Leader positions, in the Transformative Emergency Response Nutrition Improvement in Zambia (TERNIZA) project.
The project aims to build resilience among vulnerable smallholder farmers in Zambia, especially women and youth, enabling them to withstand climate shocks, increase agricultural productivity, and improve nutrition.
Duty Stations: Chongwe, Gwembe, Namwala and Kazungula districts.
The District Coordinator position will be based in Chongwe, while the 10 Project Leader positions will be spread out in 4 districts as follows: 4 Chongwe, 2 Gwembe, 2 Namwala and 2 Kazungula.
Essential Job Functions include:
1.1 Program Management
a) Manages all operations related to the drought recovery programs according to the work plan, program document and implementation strategy.
b) Troubleshoots, as needed, to prevent disruptions in daily program activities.
c) Provides technical support to the smallholder farmers enrolled for the implementation of all program activities ensuring the program goals are met in terms of timeliness, quantity and quality.
d) Works with the whole team in the districts and ensures that activities and results are monitored and evaluated in regard to effectiveness, efficiency and impact of the program’s components, and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.
e) Enhances capacities and skills of smallholder farmers, especially women and the youth to diversify production, improve productivity through training, targeted extension support and capacity-building programs
f) Advances livelihoods restoration and development, financial literacy and inclusion for women and youth farmers through capacity building activities and linkage to affordable finance including using digital tools
g) Enhances access to safe and Nutritious Foods for all, through access to markets, agro-processing, and value addition, and improving nutrition education.
1.2 Oversight of Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
(a) Works with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to ensure that the M&E systems of individual indicators are of high quality, providing regular impact and process data and that data collected meets the required standard.
(b) Shares results, findings, lessons learnt internally as well as externally
1.3 Oversight of Finance
(a) Monitors and manages the budget and financing expenses ensuring that they are within the framework of regulations and procedures for DAPP.
(b) Keeps oversight to ensure that the project gets the most value for money spent.
1.4 Representation and diplomacy
a) Coordinates with the Line Ministries in the district and other key partners and stakeholders and local leadership in the operation areas.
b) Communicates with the various Partners both government line Ministries and the private sector at district and community level.
2. Required Qualifications For Project Leaders
2.1 Certificate or Diploma in Agronomy, General Agriculture Sciences, Agricultural Extension or related fields.
2.2 At least five (5) years of professional and leadership experience with an NGO in agricultural extension services, micro financing, nutrition, or seed and agro-chemical related fields.
2.3 Demonstrated and proven leadership managing similar projects
2.4 Good understanding of concepts and issues of smallholder farmers and nutrition.
2.5 Knowledge of and experience in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices/Climate services.
2.6 Strong interpersonal skills and excellent team player
2.7 Good facilitation skills.
3. Required Qualifications for the District Coordinator.
3.1 Diploma in Agronomy, General Agriculture Sciences, Agricultural Extension or related fields.
3.2 Degree in General Agriculture will be an added advantage.
3.3 At least five (5) years of professional and leadership experience with an NGO in agricultural extension services, micro financing, nutrition, or seed and agro-chemical related fields.
3.4 Demonstrated and proven leadership managing similar projects.
3.5 Good understanding of concepts and issues of smallholder farmers and nutrition.
3.6 Knowledge of and experience in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices/Climate services.
3.7 Strong interpersonal skills and excellent team player
3.8 Good facilitation skills
