Job Purpose / Role Summary
The Regional Sales Lead is responsible for driving customer acquisition and sales growth for biodigester products and services within an assigned region. The role focuses on lead generation, partner engagement, customer site assessments, quotation development, and coordination with construction and finance teams to ensure excellent customer experience from first contact through installation and payment confirmation.
About Us
Biogas Technology Zambia is a Zambian woman-led clean energy company that designs, builds, and maintains biodigester systems that convert organic waste into clean biogas energy and organic fertilizer. We serve schools, hospitals, farms, and households across Zambia—providing a proven, locally owned alternative to charcoal and firewood.
We are scaling implementation of a 3.5-year project to construct and install 2,000 biodigester plants (including flexi systems) ranging from 6m³ to 200m³ across all 10 provinces of Zambia. This recruitment supports nationwide delivery at scale.
Job Purpose / Role Summary
The Regional Sales Lead is responsible for driving customer acquisition and sales growth for biodigester products and services within an assigned region. The role focuses on lead generation, partner engagement, customer site assessments, quotation development, and coordination with construction and finance teams to ensure excellent customer experience from first contact through installation and payment confirmation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead generation & sales growth: Identify, qualify, and convert leads for biodigester construction and related products/services.
- Partnership development: Identify and build relationships with partner organizations (e.g., outgrower schemes, cooperatives, agribusinesses, NGOs, farmer networks) to expand outreach and pipeline.
- Outreach & activations: Plan and participate in farmer engagement platforms such as agricultural shows, community meetings, demos, and other channels that reach smallholder farmers and institutional customers.
- Customer assessments: Conduct site visits and basic technical assessments to advise customers on biodigester suitability and feedstock requirements.
- Quotations & customer guidance: Prepare and issue accurate quotations and support customers through decision-making, approvals, and onboarding.
- Internal coordination: Work closely with regional construction teams to schedule installations and ensure timely, quality service delivery.
- Payment coordination: Liaise with internal finance to confirm customer payments and support smooth handover for implementation.
- Reporting: Maintain lead/customer records, submit weekly/monthly pipeline reports, and track progress against targets.
- Representation: Uphold company values, brand standards, and professional conduct while representing the business in the region.
Job Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)
Education:
- Minimum Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. (Degree is an added advantage.)
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years in sales, business development, field sales, or partnership development.
- Experience selling to farmers, rural markets, institutions, or B2B/B2G clients is an advantage.
- Exposure to clean energy, agriculture, WASH, climate/green products, or construction-related services is an added advantage.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to work independently in the field and deliver against targets.
- Good planning and coordination skills (working across sales, technical, and finance teams).
- Ability to conduct structured site assessments and explain technical concepts simply to customers.
- Reporting discipline and basic data skills (Excel/Google Sheets).
- Experience using CRM tools or maintaining structured lead trackers is an advantage.
- High integrity, professionalism, and strong customer service orientation.
Language:
- Strong written and spoken English.
- One or more local languages relevant to the assigned region is an advantage.
