The Zambia Alliance of Women (ZAW) is a women-led membership-based, non-governmental and non-profit organization registered under the Laws of Zambia as a Trust. ZAW’s mission is to empower women to take charge of their lives through the promotion of gender equity and equality, environmental sustainability, and social justice, thereby ensuring that the right to a healthy life is enjoyed by both present and future generations.
ZAW is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates to fill the position of Finance and Accounting Intern. The intern will work under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Officer and will provide support in financial and administrative operations while gaining practical experience in accounting and finance within a non-profit organization environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undergo practical training by working closely with Accounts Officer and Finance and Administration Officer
- Assist in maintaining accurate accounting and financial records.
- Support the preparation and filing of payment vouchers, invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.
- Assist with data entry and updating accounting records and spreadsheets.
- Support petty cash management and bank reconciliation processes.
- Help organize and maintain finance and administrative files.
- Assist in budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
- Support preparation of monthly financial reports and statements.
- Assist in preparation of external audit and donor reporting processes.
- Support online banking and preparation of bank reconciliation statements
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Qualification must be ZAQA validated.
- ZICA membership
- Recent graduate or student seeking internship placement.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.
