JOB ADVERT - HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Kamimbi Aqua Feed Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Human Resources Manager. The role reports to the Managing Director and will be based at the Kamimbi Aqua Feed factory in Siavonga.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and managing all human resource functions within the feed mill plant to ensure the organization attracts, develops, motivates, and retains a productive workforce. The role focuses on maintaining positive employee relations, managing union engagements, ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies, supporting business growth objectives, and providing strategic human capital reports to management and investors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Human Resource Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's business objectives.
- Advise management on workforce planning, organizational development, and succession planning.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to enhance productivity and retention.
- Lead HR transformation and continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
2. Union and Industrial Relations Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between management and employee unions.
- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with union representatives.
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations and ensure implementation of collective agreements.
- Handle grievances, disputes, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution in accordance with labour laws and company policies.
- Represent the company during labour consultations, mediations, and industrial relations meetings.
- Monitor compliance with labour legislation and collective bargaining agreements.
- Develop strategies to minimize industrial unrest and maintain workplace harmony.
3. Recruitment, Selection, and Talent Management
- Oversee recruitment and selection processes for all plant positions.
- Develop talent acquisition strategies to attract qualified candidates.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programs for new employees.
- Identify high-potential employees and develop succession plans.
- Manage employee performance appraisal systems and career development initiatives.
4. Training and Employee Development
- Conduct training needs assessments across departments.
- Develop and implement annual training plans and budgets.
- Coordinate leadership development, technical skills training, and compliance training.
- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements.
5. Compensation and Benefits Administration
- Develop and maintain competitive compensation structures.
- Manage payroll oversight, employee benefits, and incentive programs.
- Conduct salary surveys and benchmarking exercises.
- Ensure fair and equitable application of compensation policies.
6. Employee Relations and Welfare
- Promote a positive workplace culture based on fairness, respect, and accountability.
- Address employee concerns and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Coordinate employee welfare programs and wellness initiatives.
- Support diversity, inclusion, and equal employment opportunity practices.
7. Performance Management
- Develop and oversee performance management systems.
- Guide managers in setting performance objectives and conducting appraisals.
- Monitor employee productivity and recommend improvement strategies.
- Support corrective action processes where necessary.
8. Compliance and Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, occupational health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and HR documentation.
- Coordinate internal and external HR audits.
9. Investor and Management Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive human capital reports for investors, shareholders, and senior management.
- Provide periodic reports on workforce demographics, labour costs, productivity, turnover, absenteeism, training investments, and industrial relations matters.
- Present HR metrics and workforce trends to investors and executive leadership.
- Support investor due diligence exercises by providing accurate HR information and workforce data.
- Contribute to sustainability, governance, and ESG reporting requirements relating to human capital management.
10. Health, Safety, and Employee Wellbeing
- Collaborate with plant management to promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Support accident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Promote employee wellness and mental health initiatives.
11. Staff Canteen Management
- Oversee the administration and operation of the company staff canteen to ensure the provision of quality, nutritious, hygienic, and cost-effective meals.
- Monitor food service standards and ensure compliance with food safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
- Manage canteen budgets, meal subsidy programs, and service contracts where applicable.
- Conduct periodic employee satisfaction assessments regarding canteen services and implement improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adequate catering arrangements for company meetings, training sessions, workshops, and special events.
- Address employee concerns relating to canteen services and ensure timely resolution of issues.
12. Expatriate Management and Immigration Administration
- Coordinate all immigration, work permit, employment permit, visa, residence permit, and other regulatory requirements for expatriate employees and their dependents.
- Liaise with relevant government departments, immigration authorities, embassies, and external service providers to facilitate timely processing and renewal of permits.
- Monitor compliance with immigration laws and employment regulations affecting expatriate staff.
- Maintain accurate records of expatriate employment documentation, permit expiry dates, and statutory requirements.
- Support expatriate onboarding, relocation, accommodation arrangements, and integration into the organization.
- Provide guidance to management on expatriate employment policies, localization plans, and workforce compliance requirements.
13. Administration and Employee Services
- Oversee employee accommodation, transport, and welfare services where provided by the company.
- Coordinate employee events, recognition programs, and corporate social activities.
- Ensure efficient administration of employee facilities and workplace amenities.
- Manage service contracts relating to employee welfare and support services.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE)
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years' progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Full Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resources Manager (ZIHRM).
- Demonstrated experience in union management and collective bargaining negotiations.
- Experience in manufacturing, feed production, agro-processing, FMCG, or industrial operations.
- Experience preparing management and investor reports.
- Strong understanding of labour laws, industrial relations, and HR best practices.
- Unquestionable integrity.
- Must uphold the company and professional code of ethics.
- Analytical skills and working with volumes of data.
- Results must be certified by ZAQA.
