Procurement & Logistics Officer
Department: Finance | Reports To: Accountant & Operations Manager | Location: Siavonga, Zambia
Kariba Harvest Limited is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement & Logistics Officer to manage the sourcing of goods and services and coordinate the movement of materials across our operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping our farm operations running smoothly through efficient purchasing, supplier management, and transport and logistics coordination.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate procurement of feed, farming inputs, equipment, fuel, spare parts, packaging, and other operational requirements.
• Obtain quotations, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate competitive prices, quality, and delivery terms.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and purchase orders, and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Liaise with the Stores Department to verify stock availability and coordinate timely receipt of goods.
• Plan and coordinate transportation of feed, harvested fish, equipment, and materials, including cross-border shipments.
• Coordinate import and export documentation, including permits, customs paperwork, and clearance with border authorities and freight forwarders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, transporters, and logistics service providers.
• Ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and internal controls.
• Prepare regular reports on procurement status, supplier performance, and logistics movement.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain functions.
• Professional qualification such as CIPS or ZIPS is an added advantage.
• Experience in agriculture, aquaculture, manufacturing, or FMCG is an advantage.
Skills & Attributes
• Strong negotiation, planning, and organizational skills.
• Good working knowledge of import/export and customs procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
