Role Purpose
The Design Assistant supports the Interior Designer in delivering design projects efficiently and professionally. This role is pivotal in keeping projects organised, documentation accurate, and client communications timely — enabling the designer to focus on creative output while the assistant ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Design Support
• Assist the Interior Designer in preparing mood boards and material selections
• Source fabric, furniture, and décor samples as directed
• Organise and maintain design libraries and sample collections
• Research supplier options, pricing, and availability
• Prepare design presentations for client meetings
Project Administration
• Maintain project files, folders, and documentation for all active projects
• Track project timelines and flag upcoming deadlines to the designer
• Coordinate with suppliers for order confirmations and delivery schedules
• Assist in preparing procurement schedules and order lists
• Record meeting notes and action items from client and contractor interactions
Client Communication Support
• Respond to routine client enquiries on behalf of the designer
• Manage appointment scheduling and confirmations
• Follow up on outstanding approvals, samples, or decisions from clients
On-Site Support
• Attend site visits with the designer as required
• Assist in checking material deliveries against specifications on site
• Document site observations and report back to the designer
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
• Project documentation accuracy — 100% of files complete and up to date
• Deadline tracking — no missed milestones due to coordination failure
• Supplier follow-up completion — all orders confirmed and tracked
• Client communication responsiveness — enquiries responded to within 24 hours
• Sample and material procurement — sourced within agreed timeframes
• Designer support effectiveness — designer able to focus on design, not admin
Role Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Education
• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, or currently studying, preferred
Experience Required
• 2 years in an interior design support, design administration, or related role
• Exposure to project-based creative environments advantageous
Skills & Competencies
• Strong organisational and administrative ability
• Good communication skills — written and verbal
• Proficient in MS Office; design software exposure advantageous
• Ability to multi-task across several projects simultaneously

Our offices are located at Unit 3, Ibex Hub Mall, Corner of Chimanga Road and Bill Sela Street, Ibex Hill, Lusaka.
The office is located in the same mall as Choppies Supermarket (Ibex Hill), making it easy to identify the location.
