Good Neighbors Zambia (GNZ), established in 2012, implements Community Development Programs in the areas of education, health, child protection, water and sanitation, income generation, and humanitarian response. Position Details
Position Title Finance Officer

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Transactions and Record-Keeping
- Assist in recording financial transactions in the accounting system in accordance with GN financial procedures.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents including vouchers, receipts, invoices, and supporting documents.
- Ensure all transactions are adequately supported, approved, and coded correctly.
- Conduct regular assessments of administrative systems and recommend operational improvements.
2. Payments, Account Reconciliation
- Prepare payment vouchers, requisitions, and electronic payment documentation for review and approval.
- Assist in processing statutory deductions such as PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, and other statutory contributions.
- Assist in processing supplier payments.
- Assist in preparing bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Follow up on outstanding items and discrepancies for correction.
3. Budget Monitoring and Reporting Support
- Support budget monitoring by tracking expenditures against approved budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, donors, and international headquarters.
- Provide financial data and documentation for audits and reviews.
4. Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GNZ financial policies, donor requirements, and internal control procedures.
- Report any financial discrepancies or irregularities to the supervisor.
- Support implementation of audit recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, ACCA Part II, ZICA Licentiate
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in financial management, accounting, preferably within an NGO field.
- Valid membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Strong knowledge in donor-funded project implementation and donor compliance.
- Proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and safeguarding principles.
