PURPOSE
This exciting opportunity exists in Fraser Alexander Zambia to operate, inspect, and maintain water pumps, including the stopping and starting of pumps as per standard operating procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
Punctual adherence to site-specific schedule/shift times.
Attend safety talks.
Conduct daily risk assessments and shift handovers.
Open and close valves as per standard operating procedures.
Report downtime on pumps, spillages and leaks.
Write reports (Hourly/Daily) and take samples (PH and Turbidity)
Monitor incoming and outgoing line pressure.
Communicate with site operations regarding density control, flow control, and the stopping and starting of pumps.
Assist and carry out any tasks and instructions from higher line managers as requested.
Health and Safety
Follow written Safe Work Procedures when executing specific tasks and emergencies as per training.
Wear the correct PPE for each specific task.
Follow all safety procedures and site emergency procedures as per training and site-specific standards.
Maintain emergency preparedness at all times.
Report unsafe acts and/or conditions.
Participate in all training-related activities.
Housekeeping
Practice good housekeeping around all pumps and valves.
Clean tools regularly and store equipment properly.
Basic Inspections
Report all defects relating to pump stations.
Conduct visible pump and valve inspections using a checklist.
Inspect pressure gauges, pumps, and pulley guards.
Timekeeping
Accurate reporting of personal timekeeping.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
EXPERIENCE
At least one (1) year of relevant experience in a similar operation (tailings/metallurgical plant).
On-the-job training on pumps.
