Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Zambia is a Zambian NGO implementing development projects across all 10 provinces in Zambia in the following thematic areas: Health, education, integrated community development, agriculture and environment with climate change, gender and human rights as cross cutting elements.
Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position of Accounts Clerk.
The position istenable at DAPP TERNIZA II Project – CHONGWE.
Job summary/ responsibilities:
i) Review and ensure prompt retirement of receipts from the projects and post into SAGE 300.
ii) Alert superiors and Finance and Administration team of any challenges from, or within the Projects.
iii) Ensure that relevant information or correspondence from donor partners is maintained in a respective file.
iv) Ensure that monthly reports are reviewed for data quality; working directly and promptly with the Project Leaders to correct any inaccuracies.
v) Analyse and balance creditor’s balances on the Trial Balance and make sure it is signed by the respective Project Accountant.
vi) Review and post invoices as per DAPP Guidelines.
vii) Assist the Project Accountant and Project Officers in collecting outstanding accounts receivables.
viii) Prepare receipts, ensuring that they reconcile with the revenue and system reports and also, ensure that funds received from the partners have been receipted.
ix) Process and review receipts and travel expense reports related to the Project.
x) Work on other Projects as assigned by the supervisor.
xi) Provide support of internal and external auditors requirements, which may include vouching and reconcilement.
xii) Ensure that performance reviews are done at the scheduled times, without fail.
Qualifications:
i) Certificate in Accountancy or first level of any professional accounting qualification such as CA Zambia, ACCA and CIMA.
ii) At least 1 year working experience in a busy environment.
iii) Paid up member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
Key skills required:
i) Working knowledge of an ERP system. Knowledge of SAGE 300 will be an added advantage.
ii) Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
iii) Analytical skills.
iv) Ability to learn new systems.
v) Ability and willingness to work extended hours.
vi) Good interpersonal skills.
