Job Title: Applications Engineer Support (Billing and VAS)
The key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate VAS, Charging, and Billing partners/vendors to maintain >99% service availability.
- Oversee Convergent systems, Postpaid billing, Prepaid charging, and VAS operations.
- Monitor performance indicators to prevent revenue loss.
- Identify and propose new VAS opportunities aligned with MTN Zambia and MTN Group goals.
- Maintain high service quality and uptime for Charging, Billing & VAS systems.
- Prepare performance reports for MTN Group and MTN Zambia EXCO.
- Ensure compliance with internal SLAs and prevent revenue leakages.
- Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy new or enhanced applications.
- Ensure applications meet business needs and resolve system issues promptly.
- Collaborate with teams on testing and integration of new software.
- Review technical documentation to confirm functionality and compliance.
- Manage design, development, and installation of system upgrades.
- Coordinate with software suppliers for timely issue resolution.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure fast product rollout and fewer complaints.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Candidate Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate with 5 credit or better of which English and Mathematics are a must
- 4-year degree in B Sc degree in IT / Software Engineering or related field
- 3 to 4 years of experience in telecoms IT experience in the Charging, Billing and VAS area.
- Troubleshooting, analytical, logical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities necessary to meet daily challenge of responsibilities
- Knowledge and experience in computer data communication networks, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, API technology, Kubernetes and microservices technology, Cloud technology, Tariff configuration, project management and Vendor coordination.
- Experience in GSM Telecommunications, Database Administration, Data Analytics, Cloud Technology, Kubernetes & Microservices, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Unix Administration & Shell Scripting, Advanced MS Excel, ITIL Intermediate, and Project Management will be an added advantage.
