To install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on irrigation equipment — including centre pivots, pump stations, and control panels — ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all irrigation systems. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting and electrical expertise, with added advantage for candidates familiar with Zimmatic by Lindsay and TL Centre Pivot systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on irrigation systems, pumps, and motor control panels.
- Install and service Zimmatic and TL centre pivots, including main panels, tower boxes, wiring, and end guns.
- Diagnose and repair faults in Star-Delta panels, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and electrical protection systems.
- Carry out testing and calibration of control boxes, timers, and remote control systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and manufacturer manuals accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with electrical safety standards and company policies.
- Support irrigation installation teams during project setups, commissioning, and after-sales service.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service reports.
- Train operators and clients on safe use of electrical irrigation systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree, Diploma or Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification (TEVETA recognized).
- Valid EIZ license
- Minimum 3–5 years of practical experience in electrical work within the irrigation or agricultural sector.
- Proven experience working with:
- Zimmatic by Lindsay and TL Centre Pivot Systems
- Star-Delta and DOL panels
- Pump starters, VFDs, and control systems
- 3-phase power distribution and fault diagnosis
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong understanding of irrigation electrical systems and automation.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of PLC-based and telemetry-based irrigation control systems is an added advantage.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in field environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
