Purpose
Family Legacy (FL) is a faith-based organization that exists to glorify God by equipping children in Zambia to live out their God-given potential. Since 2000, Family Legacy Missions Zambia (FLMZ) has been transforming the lives of vulnerable and orphaned children through three core programs: Camp Life, the Tree of Life Children’s Village, and the Legacy Academies using for key pillars of our ministry – academic, emotional, spiritual and physical.
The overall responsibility of the Primary School Teacher is to impart knowledge and skills into the learners. The Primary School Teacher will implement scheduled and unscheduled learning activities in line with the organization’s policy on education, monitor the conduct and discipline of learners and create an environment which will enable students to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, spiritual and psychological development.

All successful candidates will be required to adhere to FLMZ’s Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and safeguarding values to ensure that every child and young person in our care is safe, respected, and protected at all times.
Role and Responsibilities
Students Management(20%)
- Oversee and manage students in assigned classes regarding classroom instruction.
- Listen to students concerns and needs and provide feedback at an appropriate time to both the supervisor and learners.
- Track attendance of students.
- Locally initiate mediation in conflict management among students.
- Advocate and ensure safety of students when reporting child protection or other sensitive issues.
- Ensure the concerns and needs of Legacy Academy students are attended to so that their work is not disrupted.
- Maintain a comprehensive continuous assessment record on academic performance of students. This will be done through consistent monthly tests and School-Based Assessments.
- Sensitize students on the prudent use of class resources and materials. Teach students to show gratitude to their sponsors.
2. Leadership(20%)
- Engage in decision making in consultation with supervisors.
- Create a school culture that promotes good values among learners as required by the organizations policies.
- Provide encouragement to students through affirmation and other incentives where possible.
- Provide suggestions to supervisors about appropriate solutions to problems that threaten smooth implementation of academic activities at a campus.
- Be a role model to all students in a holistic manner.
3. Lesson Delivery(30%)
- Use schemes of work based on the new revised curriculum and produce a detailed lesson plan that promotes effective teaching.
- Model to students the use of the spoken English language in and outside class for effective learning and communication.
- Implement skills learnt during workshops and trainings organized by the organization and external bodies.
- Design and implement appropriate interventions to improve the performance of struggling students in various subjects.
- Submit lesson plans weekly and schemes of work at the start of the term to the supervisor.
- Ensure the school syllabus is completed for each year.
- Implement Social Emotional Learning initiatives in the school environment.
- Promote Christian values in the school in line with the organizations statement of faith.
- Administering of Term letters in collaboration with Social Services Department.
4. Student Discipline (5%)
- Enforce the student code of conduct.
- Handle and document student disciplinary and grievance cases according to the code of conduct.
- Document learner cases of indiscipline for reference and decision making.
- Hold students accountable for failure to follow laid down school rules. This will be done using the Student Code of Conduct.
5 . School Environment and Maintenance (5%)
- Ensure assigned classrooms are kept clean at all times.
- Create and keep an inventory for all class items/ supplies assigned.
6.Communication (5%)
- Follow the laid down channels of communication with the Head and all other staff.
- Promptly communicate and document important information to the supervisor.
7. Classroom Security (5%)
- Ensure that the assigned classroom is locked at the end of each school day and submit the keys to the supervisor.
- Ensure students are not left unsupervised.
8. Records Management(5%)
- Document and maintain an up to date Teacher Binder.
- The binder will contain records for the following data:
- A comprehensive class student list encompassing guardians/parents and their contact details
- Student Attendance List
- Behavior Log
- Lesson plan
- Schemes of Work
- School Curriculum
- Records Report
- Incident Reports
- Mark Schedule
- Any other forms deemed necessary by the FLMZ office.
Exams (5%)
- Administer locally set tests
- Invigilate national examinations.
- Provide credible and accurate information on learners as requested by the Head teacher and Examination and curriculum Coordinator.
- Administer and record School-Based Assessments for Grade 5 to 7
Qualifications
Education:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Degree in Primary Education.
- Valid TCZ Certificate.
Experience:
At least 2 years teaching experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Competency in computer skills (MS Word, Excel)
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to work cross-culturally and in faith-based environments.
- Must be a Christian and committed to Christian values, servant leadership, and Family Legacy’s mission.
- High levels of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
