The Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) is a Government institution under the Ministry of Technology and Science, established under Statutory Instrument No. 7 of 2003 in accordance with the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Act of 1998.
The Institute is located at Plot No. 2621, Nakatindi Road, Livingstone.
LIBES invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced Zambian nationals to fill the following vacant position:
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (01)
Reporting to: Librarian
Purpose of the Role
To support the effective management, organisation, safeguarding, and utilisation of library and information resources in order to enhance teaching, learning, research and academic excellence at the Institute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the acquisition, classification, cataloguing, and organisation of library and information resources
- Support students, lecturers, and staff in accessing print and electronic information resources and learning materials
- Maintain accurate library records, circulation data and inventory of library holdings
- Promote effective utilisation of library services through user orientation and information support
- Safeguard library resources by enforcing lending procedures, security measures and proper handling of materials
- Maintain a clean, orderly and conducive library environment
- Assist in periodic stocktaking and reporting on library resources
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Library and Information Studies or a related field
- Degree in Library and Information Studies will be an added advantage
- Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience
