Our client, an energy and infrastructure development company operating in Zambia is seeking is seeking a dynamic and experienced Exploration Geologist to support mineral discovery, mapping, and evaluation across Zambia’s key mining regions. The role involves hands‑on fieldwork, data interpretation, and supporting high‑priority exploration programs aligned with Zambia’s mineral development ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement exploration programs including soil sampling, pitting, trenching, and drilling for copper, gold, cobalt, manganese, and other mineral targets.
- Conduct detailed geological mapping and logging of core, RC, and air‑core samples.
- Supervise field teams and drilling contractors, ensuring strict adherence to QA/QC procedures and safety protocols.
- Interpret geochemical, geophysical, and remote‑sensing datasets to generate exploration targets.
- Compile geological datasets using GIS and 3D modelling software such as Leapfrog, Micromine, or Surpac.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports and maintain well‑organized digital and physical geological records.
- Support environmental and social assessments and promote SHE compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Geoscience.
- 2–5 years’ experience in mineral exploration, preferably within Zambia or the Central African Copperbelt.
- Proficiency in geological and GIS software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in remote terrain.
- Membership with EIZ or the Geological Society of Zambia is an added advantage.
