Job Title: Social Media Intern
Location: AIDS Healthcare Fundation Zambia Country Office-Lusaka
Job Summary
The Social Media Intern supports AHF Zambia’s Social Media Revolution by strengthening digital storytelling, online engagement, and public health communication across social media platforms.
The role contributes to increasing visibility, awareness, and community engagement around HIV prevention, treatment, advocacy, and public health initiatives through innovative digital content.
The intern will support development of creative, data-driven, and youth-centered digital campaigns, while documenting AHF Zambia activities and amplifying impact across platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and WhatsApp channels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Digital Content Creation
- Develop creative digital content including graphics, short videos, reels, and stories to support AHF Zambia campaigns and activities.
- Document AHF program activities, outreach events, campaigns, and community engagements for social media visibility.
- Support production of digital storytelling content highlighting patient impact, community engagement, and program achievements.
- Assist in drafting social media captions and posts aligned with AHF messaging and brand guidelines.
Social Media Management
- Support management of AHF Zambia social media platforms including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and WhatsApp groups.
- Schedule and publish content according to the AHF Zambia digital communication calendar.
- Monitor audience engagement including comments, shares, and direct messages.
Campaign Support
- Support implementation of digital campaigns including:
- International Condom Day
- World AIDS Day
- HIV testing campaigns
- Youth engagement campaigns
- Advocacy and policy awareness initiatives
- Assist in developing innovative online campaigns that promote HIV prevention, testing, and treatment awareness.
Digital Analytics and Insights
- Track and analyze social media performance metrics including reach, engagement, impressions, and audience growth.
- Generate simple analytics reports to support evaluation of digital campaigns.
- Support data-driven improvements to social media strategies.
Community and Youth Engagement
- Engage with online audiences to promote positive health messaging and community awareness.
- Support youth-centered digital initiatives and online dialogues related to HIV prevention and sexual health.
- Promote responsible digital communication aligned with AHF values.
Digital Innovation
- Support adoption of emerging digital platforms and trends to enhance AHF Zambia’s online presence.
- Contribute creative ideas for expanding digital outreach and storytelling.
- Support integration of short-form video content and interactive media into campaigns.
Participation in AHF Activities
- Advocacy and campaign planning meetings.
- Communications and digital media coordination meetings.
- AHF campaign and outreach events.
- Continuous learning sessions on digital communications and advocacy.

A. Education and/or Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Marketing, Public Health, or related field.
- Demonstrated interest in digital media, storytelling, and public health communication.
- Experience managing personal or organizational social media accounts is an added advantage.
B. Technical Skills
- Basic skills in social media management platforms.
- Basic skills in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
- Ability to capture photos and short videos using mobile devices or cameras.
- Basic knowledge of social media analytics tools.
C. Core Competencies

Duration
- The internship will run for 3-6 months, with possibility of extension based on performance and program needs.
