Job Summary
The Bricklayer is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining walls, floors, partitions, and other structures using bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials according to project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials according to plans and specifications.
- Measure and mark surfaces to guide laying and alignment.
- Mix and apply mortar or other bonding materials.
- Cut and shape bricks and blocks using hand tools or power tools.
- Repair and replace damaged bricks, blocks, and mortar.
- Ensure structures are level, straight, and properly aligned.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow all site safety regulations and company policies.
- Work closely with supervisors and other construction team members to complete projects on time.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade 9 or equivalent education.
- Certificate or training in bricklaying/masonry is an added advantage.
- Proven experience as a bricklayer or mason.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labor.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and discipline on site.
