JOB TITLE: PLUMBER
JOB SUMMARY
A Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining water supply systems, drainage systems, and related fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role ensures that all plumbing systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Inspect plumbing systems and identify faults, leaks, blockages, or damages.
- Carry out routine maintenance and emergency repairs to prevent system failures.
- Install and maintain water supply systems, including pumps and tanks.
- Ensure proper installation of sanitation and waste disposal systems.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and ensure proper functionality after installation or repair.
- Use plumbing tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
- Provide cost estimates for plumbing works and maintain records of materials used.
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and breakdowns.
- Work collaboratively with other construction or maintenance personnel on-site.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- Certificate or Diploma in Plumbing or a related field.
- Proven experience as a plumber in construction or maintenance work.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and safety standards.
- Ability to read technical drawings and plans.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Physically fit and able to work in different environments.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
